Promoting Health and Preventing Overpopulation

Neutering & Spaying

Though it is certainly important, preventing unwanted pregnancies isn’t the only reason to spay and neuter your pets. At Zia Vet Clinic, we also recommend this procedure for the sake of your pet’s long-term well-being, as it has many health benefits. Since we take our responsibility towards animals seriously, we also recommend this procedure to ensure betterment for dogs and cats all over Pakistan.

When animals have unplanned litters, many of the puppies or kittens end up in shelters or become strays, and upon further reproduction, it leads to a significant increase in not only the stray population, but the population in shelters as well. This puts a lot of strain on shelters, that often have to end up euthanizing healthy animals. To combat this cycle and help more dogs and cats find loving homes instead of ending up on the streets, we recommend that every pet be spayed or neutered.

SPAY AND NEUTER BENEFITS FOR DOGS AND CATS

While your pet’s chances of becoming pregnant or impregnating another animal may be low, there are several crucial health benefits to consider on their behalf, including:

  • Lower risk of developing mammary gland tumors (females)
  • No risk for ovarian or uterine cancer (females)
  • No risk for pyometra, life-threatening uterine infection (females)
  • Lower risk of developing prostate problems (males)
  • No risk for testicular cancer (males)
  • No recurring heat cycle (females)
  • Fewer hormone-driven behaviors, such as aggression, roaming, mounting, vocalizing, or urine marking in the house (males)
  • Spay and Neuter is advised as early as 6 months of age.
